Balanced Body Education®: Uniting Pilates and Fitness with IMS Certification

Let me introduce myself to you. I’m Helen Vanderburg, and I coordinate fitness education under the umbrella of the Integrated Movement Specialist (IMS) Program at Balanced Body.

The IMS program was developed to bridge the gap between Pilates and the fitness community by sharing Balanced Body Education with a broader audience and providing all movement professionals the opportunity to access our incredible education. The focus of the program is on movement professionals reaching a high level of ongoing education, qualification, and recognition.

The IMS Certification dives deep into the relationship between science, anatomy, movement, corrective exercise, coaching and cueing, and advanced training principles.

What are the requirements for IMS certification? The requirements for Certification are Anatomy in Three Dimensions (16 hours), Balanced Body Movement Principles for the Fitness Professional (16 hours), and Balanced Body Programming education (16 hours) which can be achieved by attending our specialty workshops in person or online. You can find out more here.

In the past few years, the IMS program has taken on a life of its own within the Balanced Body Education community. We have hosted nine Integrated Movement Virtual events and numerous virtual workshops to support ongoing education with overwhelming success.

Our virtual workshop series continues to attract a large audience. This year we are offering five 2-hour specialty workshops featuring our internationally acclaimed presenting team. Bonnie Benesh and I hosted one of them earlier this month: Cardio Pilates Flow. If you missed it, don’t worry, just be sure to sign up for the BB newsletter to be alerted for the next one coming up in April.

With so many options for education, we strive to be your resource for evidence-informed education. Those who attain the IMS certification are recognized as experts in movement performance and have the skills to customize programming for all fitness abilities and training settings, including individual and group settings. Participating in and completing the IMS program provides a clear pathway to continue to develop your skills and stay on the leading edge as a movement professional.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing the journey!
