Advanced Movement Principles: The Next Step in Your Career!

After 2+ years of writing, researching, filming, and editing, Advanced Movement Principles has arrived! Advanced Movement Principles is a graduate course I created for Pilates teachers who want to dive deeply into the art and science of Pilates as a transformative movement practice. Combining 30+ years of experience teaching clients and instructors with current research in movement science, Advanced Movement Principles is designed to improve an instructor’s ability to see, understand and improve movement. For instructors who work with injuries, misalignments and other complex conditions, Advanced Movement Principles strengthens the understanding of the body in motion and helps bring lasting improvement and life-changing benefits to both clients and classes.

If you are interested in up-leveling your skills, improving your effectiveness as a Pilates teacher and expanding your teaching opportunities, this program is for you. This 90-hour continuing education course provides a practical framework to assess and improve posture, movement skills, and athletic performance while decreasing pain and preventing injury. Video and live coursework are seamlessly blended to provide a strong background in both theory and practice. The videos include information on anatomy, movement principles and common pathologies while the live courses focus on assessment, movement analysis, exercises and program design.

The program includes five individual modules:

Module 1: Advanced Movement Principles: Fundamentals include Introduction and Client History, Moving Fascia and Working with Pain.

Module 2: AMP: The Low Back includes information on common conditions of the low back.

Module 3: AMP: The Lower Body focuses on the hips, knees, ankles and feet.

Module 5: AMP: Special Condition is an introduction to working with complex conditions such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, hypermobility, autoimmune conditions, spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.

Modules 1 and 5 are video-only courses, and modules 2, 3 and 4 include both video and in-person coursework. Instructors enrolled in the program receive regular mentoring and support from their educators to help them gain confidence in working with complex cases. Upon completion of the program, instructors receive recognition as a Balanced Body Advanced Movement Practitioner and signal your status as a confident and experienced Pilates teacher.
